WHAT ARE CONVERSATION GROUPS?

One of the best ways for AEC students to improve their speaking and listening skills is to participate frequently in informal conversation with fluent speakers of English. Conversation groups at the AEC give participants an opportunity to practice speaking English with a group of 3-4 people.

Conversation groups are not regular classes. There are no books, tests, or grades for conversation groups. They are free to AEC students.

Conversation leaders are not teachers. They are KU students who like talking with and getting to know international students. The conversation leader will have topics to talk about, but you can suggest other topics. The groups are a good place to share your culture and to ask questions about KU, Lawrence, and American culture. They are also a good place to make some friends!
