The University of Kansas

Founded in 1866, the University of Kansas (KU) has more than 26,000 students, including 1,500 international students from more than 100 nations. KU is a comprehensive research institution with more than 175 academic fields of study, including business, engineering, computer science, journalism, fine arts, architecture, chemistry, pharmacy, and other sciences.

The KU campus is one of the most beautiful in the United States. It is located on Mount Oread, a scenic tree-covered hill in the center of Lawrence. The university is home to several nationally recognized museums, and the university library is one of the best public research libraries in the United States. The campus has an exciting cultural and social life, including lectures, films, concerts, art exhibits, theatrical productions, and athletic competitions.

KU has national ranking in many college sports. We are especially proud of our champion men’s and women’s basketball teams.

For more information about KU, see the International Student Viewbook and visit the main KU website: http://www.ku.edu/ .
