Important Note:
You will have a very full day on Tuesday, January 15th, including an English Proficiency Test first thing in the morning. Please plan to arrive as early as possible on Monday, January 14th, so you will have time to rest. You will have to arise early on Tuesday!

TRAVEL ROUTING: Air to Kansas City International Airport, Missouri (MCI). You will to need take a shuttle from the airport to your dorm on the university campus.

Do NOT take a taxi!

The price for a taxi from the airport to Lawrence is $75-$100!

If you provide us with your travel itinerary at least one week in advance, the AEC will arrange for a shuttle that will pick you up from the airport (see instructions below).

The scheduled reporting date is January 14, 2008.

Shuttle Service At Kansas City International Airport

Kansas City is a fairly small city and the Kansas City airport is a small-city airport. It will probably not be as busy as the city airports you are used to. It has three terminals in a “clover” formation (see photo). This makes it very easy to navigate both inside and outside the airport. Each terminal only has one hallway and each baggage claim area has an exit to the outside where the shuttle will be picking you up.

Once you have debarked the plane, there will be signs to the nearest baggage claim site (or an airline attendant can direct you.) Each airline has only one baggage claim site.
Once you have found your luggage, you should call 1-888-467-3729 to let the shuttle company know you are there. They will be able to tell you exactly when they will be there to pick you up. The shuttle service picks people up at the airport every 2 hours, so you may have to wait for a while after your arrival.

When it is time for the shuttle company to pick you up, you need to exit through the doors directly across the hall from the baggage claim area for your airline (where you retrieved your luggage).

Because each airline has only one baggage claim site, the shuttle driver will be looking for you at the baggage claim exit for your airline and will come to pick you up at the median directly outside your baggage claim area. The driver will have a sign with "University of Kansas -- Négoçia Bachelor 1 Program " on it so you should be able to see it very easily. The shuttle service used by the Applied English Center is called Ground Transportation Services, Inc. It will say GTI on the outside of their shuttle vans.

If you have a delay at any point on your journey, please contact Geri Lamer at: 785-766-7237 (cell), 785-864-1321 (work), or 785-843-1355 (home). She will contact the shuttle company to make necessary changes to your reservation. A staff member will be at the dormitory where you will be living to help you get checked in.

We hope your journey is a safe one and we look forward to meeting you.
