About the AEC

The Applied English Center (AEC) at the University of Kansas has offered English language classes to students and scholars from all parts of the world since 1964. We welcome students at all levels of English proficiency, preparing them for study in American universities and helping them participate in American society. We are committed to preparing our students linguistically, academically and culturally for university life, providing services to enhance their adjustment and achievement, and advocating for ESL and international students. The AEC also administers the Graduate Writing Support Program, which helps students develop the advanced writing and presentation skills required for graduate and professional work.
